Sylvia Moore

Full Professor

Sylvia Moore, PhD, is an educator, mental health professional, and associate professor at the School of Arctic and Subarctic Studies. She is also the UArctic Chair in Indigenous and Northern Education and the Vice-Lead of the Verdde Indigenous Education Thematic Network at UArctic. 

Sylvia鈥檚 courses emphasize the critical examination of curriculum and pedagogy through decolonizing and Indigenizing lenses, centering education as both central to Indigenous self-determination and a path to reconciliation.  She engages in community-based research in the areas of Indigenous-led education and decolonizing/Indigenizing education at all levels. Sylvia publishes and presents on decolonizing pedagogies, Indigenous teacher education, land-based learning, language rejuvenation, Indigenous identity, and policies impacting inclusion in the Circumpolar North.
