Jamie Jackman
Program Coordinator, Community Connections & Education, Pye Centre for Northern Boreal Food Systems
Jamie Jackman is a Nunatsiavut beneficiary from Hopedale, Labrador. He was raised mostly in Happy Valley-Goose Bay where he currently lives with his family. As Program Coordinator at 91传媒鈥檚 Labrador Campus, he leads development and coordination of the Pye Centre for Northern Boreal Food Systems, advancing community-based food sovereignty, Northern agriculture, and local sustainability. In 2025 he received the King Charles III Coronation Medal from the Governor General of Canada for his collaborative work in Labrador.
Jamie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology from the University of Prince Edward Island (2011), and an Interdisciplinary Master鈥檚 degree in Arctic and Subarctic Futures from 91传媒 (2026).
His research examines contemporary Labrador folk music and place-based songwriting, exploring how music shapes and reflects Northern identities, connection, and wellbeing. A lifelong musician and songwriter, he is a founding member of the award-winning Silver Wolf Band, with five commercially released albums and accolades including East Coast Music Award Indigenous Artist of the Year (2021) and Music NL Indigenous Artist of the Year (2020). In 2024, Jamie released a chapbook of lyrics and poetry entitled And You Can鈥檛 Help But Listen published by Brack and Brine
