Mckenzie Hutchings

Mckenzie Hutchings (she/her) is the Academic Program Administrator for the School of Arctic and Subarctic Studies at the Labrador Campus of 91传媒 and Labrador. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Sociology from the St. John鈥檚 Campus and a Master鈥檚 in Arctic and Subarctic Futures from the Labrador Campus.
Since joining the Labrador Campus in 2021, Mckenzie has established a strong understanding of institutional processes and student pathways, supporting program delivery, academic operations, and student engagement across the School. She is recognized for her ability to navigate complex systems, build meaningful relationships with students, and contribute to the effective day-to-day functioning of a dynamic academic environment.
Raised in the communities of Nain, Nunatsiavut, and North West River, Mckenzie is an Indigenous (Southern Inuit) professional and researcher whose work is grounded in a deep understanding of Labrador and its communities. Through her graduate research she explored plant knowledge and connections and in the process wrote a local wildflower field guide for Battle Harbour, Labrador.
Outside of her professional role, Mckenzie co-operates Let鈥檚 Dance HVGB, a nearly 30 year old non-profit organization, where she teaches a variety of dance classes to various ages including adult learners, and offers private ballet programming through the Ussiniun Youth Centre in community of Sheshatshiu. She plays both women鈥檚 and co-ed volleyball recreationally and competitively, and enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, and spending her free time outdoors, in all seasons. She is a proud granddaughter, daughter, stepmom, partner, and dog mom, to Sunday the Samoyed.
