Research Interests

Chelsea Kilimnik, Ph.D. (University of Texas at Austin), R. Psych. (Provisional). Dr. Kilimnik earned her B.A. in Psychology and Creative Writing at the University of Winnipeg and her Master鈥檚 of Science from Trent University. She completed her clinical psychology doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin and her pre-doctoral residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center specializing in traumatic stress therapy and research.

Dr. Kilimnik鈥檚 research is focused on fostering sexual and psychological well-being for individuals who have experienced (or at risk of experiencing) sexualized and interpersonal violence.  She is the Director of the Growth, Identity, and Sexual Trauma (GIST) Lab which is currently focused on interventions for concurrent post-traumatic stress and sexual distress, identity processes in post-trauma recovery, and intersectional experiences of identity-based harm. Clinically, she specializes in trauma, grief, and sex and relationship therapy for individuals and couples. She can be reached at cdkilimnik@mun.ca.
