BScN (Collaborative) Program: Admission Requirements

For current 91传媒 students applying to the 4-Year Option.

Accelerated Option: Current Status

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program Accelerated Option is paused at both the Faculty of Nursing (St. John鈥檚 campus) and Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON) for Fall 2027. Applications to the Accelerated Option will not be accepted at either site for Fall 2027. For more information, contact the Nursing Admissions Office at nursingadmissions@mun.ca.
Note for new Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON) applicants: If you select Grenfell campus on your application, you will not see nursing listed as an area of interest. You must first choose the St. John鈥檚 campus. Then, on the next step of your application, select WRSON as your 1st-choice campus. If you have questions about this, email nursingadmissions@mun.ca

Application Status & Important Dates

Current 91传媒 students can apply to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program through their . MUN transcripts are not required, as they are already on file.

The application for Fall 2026 has closed.

Applications are now open for Fall 2027 and the Spring 2027 LPN Bridging option. For both options, the application deadline is January 20 and the document deadline is February 3.

Priority for admission is given to applicants who are residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. However, out-of-province and international applicants are encouraged to apply. All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for 91传媒.

4-Year Option

Required High School Courses

  • Biology 2201 and 3201, or equivalents
  • Chemistry 3202, or equivalent
  • Math 3200 or 3201, or equivalent

If both Biology 2201 and 3201, Math 3200 or 3201, and Chemistry 3202 were successfully completed in high school, biology, math, and chemistry courses do not need to be completed at 91传媒 for admission into the BScN (Collaborative) Program. Additional course options are available by completing the non-nursing courses at 91传媒.

If only one of the required biology courses was completed in high school (for example, Biology 3201), applicants must complete both at 91传媒, as the biology courses must be completed as a pair 鈥� either both in high school or both at 91传媒.

If Grade 12 Chemistry was not completed in high school, the following 91传媒 courses can be used to satisfy the chemistry admission requirement for Nursing: .

If Grade 12 Math was not completed in high school, three credit hours in math offered at 91传媒 can be used to satisfy the math admission requirement for Nursing.

Admission Averages

To be competitive for admission, applicants should have a 70% average or higher, either from one semester of the calendar year prior to the one they are seeking admission to (with a minimum of three courses completed), or as a cumulative average 鈥� whichever is higher is used for admission into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program.

Required Items and Deadlines for Current MUN Applicants

  • A personal statement is optional to submit with your nursing application, but it is not required.
  • Proof of Indigenous Ancestry, if applicable.
  • If you have attended any other post-secondary institutions, official transcripts must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar.
  • References will only be requested if needed 鈥� the Admissions Coordinator will reach out to applicants directly.

Date for Required Courses to Be Completed

All required biology, math, and chemistry courses for admission must be completed by July 31. If courses will be outstanding, applicants should consult with and notify the Undergraduate Nursing Admissions Coordinator by emailing nursingadmissions@mun.ca.

Admission Decisions

Admission decisions for the 4-Year Option and LPN Bridging Option are emailed to the applicant鈥檚 MUNmail account. Be sure to check your junk mail folder, as the email may end up there.

Every student admitted to the BScN Program must meet the (formerly known as Requisite Skills and Abilities, under the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador, or CRNNL) to continue their acceptance.
